Baseball is the ‘national pastime’and has been for many, many years. Lots of milestones have been reached by the players such as most homeruns or stolen bases or hits per season. Even the folks who watch can count the games attended or at least are proud fans. In business and in pastimes we have goals and passions (whether it be to actively particpate or as a fan) and when we focus on achieving those goals it will bring success.

Home business affords me the opportunity to get out to the ball park for my newphew’s high school district championship game today! Just like baseball, hot dogs and apple pie are great treats to enjoy, so is having the lifestyle that comes with a home based business.

Attending my own four kids’ sports games and other functions (which added up to quite a lot) was always important to me and I am forever grateful for being there (at just about every single event there was) for them and for myself. For the past 25 years, being with family has been my most favorite thing. I am just not the kind to have a career that would take me away from them for 10 or 12 hours a day.

A home business blends right in with a growing family and gives the opportunity to earn more income for extra expenses like the kids participating in sports, dance, music lessons, and the list goes on and on. Or maybe extra income is needed just to put gas in the car or afford groceries. Maybe the family needs a new car, and there is always college education to save for.

What about the opportunity for a retired person or couple to take on a new challenge (pastime) of sharing a great product or service and building a home business with it. The home business income can be left to their children or another loved one, creating a legacy sure to be appreciated. And the retired person or couple benefits as well with extra money to travel or do what they like, and the personal satisfaction at building something of value and pride. Sounds like a great pastime to me!

American Dream Home Business

We Americans suffered yet another postal increase a couple of weeks ago. Of course it was to be expected, and is even understood, given what is happening presently with our national economy. I read a story this week about a couple of fortunate folks who have profited in a big way through postage stamps, but I’ll save that for later in this article.

Internet marketers and businesses, and of course people in general for personal use, continue to enjoy the benefits of email communication. We can only wonder how long totally free email will be available, although efforts to change that in the past have not brought success (thankfully).

There are various ways to market a home business online that involve mail (email), and there does not have to be a cost associated with them. Let’s think about the differences between physical mail and email when you want to send a piece of marketing material. For a physical mailing, you need to either prepare, copy or purchase the material to be sent. You need to have an appropriate size envelope. If you are doing bulk email, there is time associated with preparing all of these individual pieces. And then there is the postage to mail it. All of this can add up to a major expense if it is a large mailing.

The same type of campaign can be conducted online possibly with no cost at all. You have the time invested in preparing your list of email addresses. If you are going to be re-sending to the same list of people the email addresses can be saved in a folder for an even quicker send in the future. Internet marketing information can be loaded into the email and there are options here of course, depending on how you would like the material presented (graphics, etc), if you want live links and if you prefer plain text or html. Information on how to do what is mentioned here can be found online through a search engine at no cost.

There is another way that online mail (email) can be a time saver and a money saver. For items such as newsletters there can be a tremendous savings in the online version. A form to register for the newsletter can be placed on your website, and the email addresses who register are then sent to an autoresponder which sends out the newsletters. There is a cost to such a service, but it is minimal in comparison to sending material to large lists.

Other email campaigns can be set up in addition to newsletters. Other informational products can be offered and even training materials can be sent through autoresponder sets after people register.

The introduction of email and the subsequent use of it has drastically changed the quantity of postal mail. While I don’t see it ever being completely eliminated, there are ways to save money spent on postage stamps by utilizing alternative online services. Making payments of all kinds online, communicating for both personal and business use, and marketing in general (hopefully saving junk mail) all combine to save us money buying postal stamps.

Back to that story that I mentioned. I enjoy reading these short pieces of history and hope you do as well. On the same day of this month’s postal increase, back in 1918, the first airmail stamps were issued. Apparently there were a few sheets printed with the picture upside/down. Before this was discovered some were released. One guy who bought a sheet of 100 of the 24 cent stamps noticed the mistake while still at the local post office. He knew he had something of value but also thought there would be many more of the same ‘out there’. He sold the sheet that cost him $24 for $15,000.00 and felt pretty good about it.

The person who bought it already had a $20,000 resale bid in hand. But the really interesting part is that it turned out only eight other sheets had been printed when the error was discovered and they were all destroyed. And sixty years later, just one of those .24 stamps traded for $198,000.00. What would that make the whole sheet worth? You do the math!

Maybe most of us have not experienced a windfall from a valuable postage stamp, but we certainly can prosper from the email system when we use it successfully in our home businesses. And while the email deliverability might not be as good as its offline (postal) counterpart, there are certainly choices (life Veretekk’s Veremail) that come pretty close!

Do you have trouble understanding what goes on behind our economy? The facts, figures, statistics, adjustments, all kinds of initials that are hard to keep track of. It is tough for the average person to comprehend (and also tough to be confident in those who control such matters).

What is most tough right now is the personal finances of many folks, and their ability to pay their bills, and pay for everything like gas and food and medical costs that keep rising. An extra paycheck would help the economics in most families.

I was reading about how economists use seasonal adjustments to keep money matters in perspective. Seasonal items sell better ‘in season’. Used to be that lots of people took advantage of seasonal adjustments in their own families. Buying bathing suits ‘on sale’ in January or winter holiday decorations ‘on sale’ in the summer could produce some mighty fine deals. Except now there is no extra cash to spend on these special deals.

Enough gloom and doom. Tough economic times are great times to start a home business. Not only do you get business tax deductions, just like a larger business, you increase your income. Keeping more of your present income (as a result of the tax deductions) and generating more income combine to paint a much better personal finance picture for your household income.

Starting a home business, with an intent to make a profit (duhh), is required to take these lucrative tax deductions. The last tax seminar I attended promoted heavily the concept that it is just as important how much of our money that we ‘keep’ as it is how much we make. Think about it. Makes sense.

While we might never understand what goes on with the economy, and behind the scenes, our focus should be on our personal ecomonic situation and what makes sense there. If you have not yet researched starting a home business, there is no time like a challenging economic time to do so. Many, many successful businesses were started, and went on to flourish, in this environment.

Do you know some trivia about a wonder product like Vaseline? The origin goes way back to 1878 and kerosene. A kerosene dealer from Brooklyn, New York, discovered that a waste product from his equipment was having healing effects for the workers who came in contact with it. This merchant was also a chemist and he researched it further, refined it, and reformulated it into a petroleum jelly. A kind of ‘magical’ product that has certainly stood the test of time.

Our own ‘magical’ brand has been changing lives for well over 50 years, and offers the opportunity for anyone to create better physical and financial health. It is an opportunity to represent a company that has a great legacy behind it.

Way back in the 1920’s before ‘going green’ was cool, this company supported the environment and created earth friendly, biodegradable ‘green’ products. Way back in the 1920’s, this brand created products such as the one my family likes to call the ‘Nasty’ because it certainly delivers the results we want.

We have an abundance of tools to market this proven brand right here in the world of the internet.. we can now build a home business online. Why not create a little magic of your own?

..And yet we represent a 52+ Year old brand.. “now that’s longevity”!

Sometimes product values are not even close to being recognized when first developed. Think about Coca Cola. The original syrup formula was sold after it only cleared a profit of $50 the first year. After changing the product and marketing it as recreational drink, that owner didn’t see its worth and sold the rights for a mere $2.00.

How important is the value of a brand that already had a proven track record?  A brand that announces global expansion after it has achieved 50 years of success?

Folks do not need to invent a new product to make extra part time income or even build a substantial full time income. People can join a company with longevity, with presence around the world, in a dominant industry, and with a new streamline marketing system that guarantees they will get paid.

Today, most new products and start-up companies are here today, and gone tomorrow. People who want security that they will get paid and that their product will last should associate themselves with brands that have survived the test of time.

An extra paycheck would certainly help lots of folks who find it harder and harder to fill their gas tanks.

I read an interesting story this week in regard to the U.S. Government rationing gasoline some 66 years ago. People understood that we needed to conserve fuel because we were at war (WWII).

The interesting part was that the amount of fuel was not the real issue. It was rubber. We had no rubber and therefore, a shortage of tires. An agenda was planned to save rubber, by rationing gas. Kind of makes you wonder if there is a different reason (than we understand) behind the rising cost of gas that most of us struggle with today.

Whatever the case, bottom line is that many folks need more income. A legitimate solution can be in the form of a home based business. If one has the time to put some extra hours per week into building a residual income stream that continues to increase each month, he or she need look no further than a home business system with longevity and integrity.

A home-based business can be started quickly with fast track systems, eliminating the need for using more gas. Folks new to a home business benefit with new tools and step-by-step systems that offer income right from the start, and where experienced business owners who need more income can succeed as well.
