Do you think that having a job is secure? Today, jobs might just be the ultimate risk because with a job you have only one option for income. Is that safe? If you lose your job, you lose all of your income.

Enter home business. You can set up two or three (or more) streams of income. If one slows down because of a bad economy or some other reason, you have others still producing income. Plus you control your financial destiny because nobody puts limits on the amount that you can earn. You are the boss and creator of your future.

Today, a home business makes sense for many reasons. Tax advantages are a huge benefit. Things that you already buy become an immediate tax deduction for your home business, when they never helped at all with your W2 income. The ability to create more income for your family is the reason why most people start a home business, and that can be to help pay the bills, to get the extra car or bigger house or nicer vacation, or any number of reasons.

It is important to know your reason, your ‘why’, for starting a home business. It takes work, and focus, and persistent efforts. If your reason is strong, in front of you at all times, it will be the driving force behind keeping you motivated and achieving ultimate success.

In the present economic environment, it is smart to start small with your home business. Look for ways to cut your existing bills (there are always ways to cut back) that can actually fund your start up costs. You can start a business with next to nothing in terms of cash, and yet have the potential to earn unlimited income. I remember hearing an interesting story in my primary business. This takes place more than 30 years ago when the cost to join our company, as a business builder, was only $18. When a new guy was told the price, simply 18, he wrote out a check for eighteen thousand dollars. That is how he saw the potential for this business. I would say that he has a great eye for success because today he is one of the top producers in a company that is growing, even during a major economic recession.

The key is to put the time and effort in to lay a solid foundation for your business, and use your TIME and SKILLS, not capital, to grow your business. On Earth Day, the CEO of my primary business announced the company’s plans to reach out to 1 Million People in 2009 and offer them home business security, a new economic opportunity. I think it is fascinating how a 53 year old company has the longest track record in our industry, a solid foundation behind a brand new business owner today, and still provides a way for anyone to earn the money they choose for such a small start-up cost. Compared to buying a franchise, not seeing a profit for possibly years, and the headache of managing employees, earning money your very first month sounds exciting!

You can start a home business while you are working at your present job. Your extra time in the evenings or weekends can be focused on building something of your own. You can grow that income until it meets and exceeds your paycheck, with the goal to make it your full time, unlimited income. When you go through a recession like our country is experiencing right now, it is more incentive than ever to have multiple income streams. Many business experts think that a home business should be part of every person’s financial portfolio. There are that many benefits!
